We are looking for a Geospatial Engineer, for the R&D team. The applicant will work with various datasets like satellite imageries, boundaries, weather data, etc. The applicant is expected to undertake the research and operational works as and when required. Responsibilities:
- Utilize open-source geospatial tools and libraries, particularly Python-based frameworks, for developing, implementing, and maintaining geospatial solutions.
- Conduct raster image processing and analysis using open-source software and Python scripting.
- Hands-on knowledge of QGIS, Erdas Imagine, Arc GIS and other Geospatial software.
- Develop and maintain geospatial databases and datasets, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design geospatial solutions that meet specific project needs.
- Perform data acquisition, integration, and quality assurance tasks for geospatial datasets.
- Design and implement geospatial algorithms and models using open-source tools.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for geospatial software and tools.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in open-source geospatial technologies and contribute to the adoption of best practices within the team.
- Document and communicate geospatial processes, methodologies, and results effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geospatial/Geomatics/Remote Sensing/GIS/Computer Science (or related) field with 2 -3 years of working experience in Geospatial projects.
- 2-3 years of professional experience in raster image processing and related geospatial fields.
- Strong proficiency in open-source geospatial tools and libraries, such as GDAL, QGIS, Rasterio, GeoPandas, and related tools .
- Excellent programming skills in Python and experience with Python-based geospatial libraries, such as GDAL, Rasterio, Fiona, Pandas, or GeoPandas.
- Hands-on experience with the Google Earth Engine.
- Familiarity with geospatial data management, spatial databases, data modelling, and PostgreSQL.
- Solid understanding of geospatial data formats, including raster and vector data.
- Experience with remote sensing data and satellite imagery analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative geospatial solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently on assigned tasks.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and keep up with emerging trends and technologies in the geospatial field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with cloud-based platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application to geospatial data analysis.
- Exposure to spatial databases and geospatial web technologies, such as PostGIS, GeoServer, or similar tools, is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with web mapping frameworks and libraries, such as Leaflet, OpenLayers, or Mapbox GL JS, is an added advantage.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
- Understanding Geo statistics and R programming is an added advantage.
